Happy New Year! A Message from Alan Harris, President

I hope you had a great holiday and are ready to welcome a great new year in Pacific Beach!

This is my first message as President of PBTC and I look forward to working with our members and am honored to have your support. Please join me in spreading the word and help us get our community involved in keeping Pacific Beach a great place. We are a diverse, family, beach community and want to spread that message through all we do in 2013.

December was a full month of PB activities. Strong waves had us swaying at the tree lighting on Crystal Pier. this was a festive event for the community, with Mayor Bob Filner and Assistant Police Chief Shelly Zimmerman on hand for the lighting. A grinch showed up but was unable to rob our community spirit.

Our holiday parade returned this year and it was a great to see so many people out on Garnet Ave. The PBTC entered a float in the parade- a sleigh of presents pulled by shimmering sea horses followed by some of our best presents (the neighborhood kids). Credit for our float entry goes to our new Vice President, Adam Meyer.

I was honored to drive the 2012 Honorary Mayor of Pacific Beach Dr. John Westwood and his two granddaughters. Caprice & Peyton Westwood.

We celebrated PB’s 125 birthday on 12-12-12 at a building on Garnet that has rich history. Our thanks go to John Fry for putting together a photo history of PB, Kevin Faulconer for his support, Discover PB, the Rotary Club for organizing the event, and to Ryan and his team at Typhoon Saloon for hosting the event.

Our final PBTC event of the year was the annual holiday party held at Turquoise Coffee & Cellars. This was an opportunity for our new board to meet with the current board. We have a great group that truly cares about Pacific Beach.

Entering the new year, please join us for some fun, food, and drinks at our annual PBTC Installation dinner on Sunday January 27th, 2013 at the Mission Bay Yacht Club (1215 El Carmel Pl.). Cocktails begin at 5pm and dinner at 6pm. Please call the office to get your tickets in advance. We anticipate a full house! Bring a friend or neighbor! After all it takes everyone to make a great community.

Finally please join us at our annual Community Forum on Wed., January 16, 2013 at the PB Women’s Club, 1720 Hornblend Ave. at 6pm. We need our community involved!
