What is the Pacific Beach Town Council?
This volunteer-based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization is dedicated to the betterment of Pacific Beach. PBTC was founded by community activists in 1951. The Town Council’s membership includes hundreds of individuals, families and businesses in the close-knit, hard-working, hard-playing area of Pacific Beach.
The membership annually elects a Board of Directors who serve two-year terms, and officers who serve one-year terms. The Board, officers, and members are governed by the Pacific Beach Town Council bylaws. Membership is open to everyone!

What does the Pacific Beach Town Council do?
The Pacific Beach Town Council’s broad mandate to better Pacific Beach means that we are involved in a wide range of activities — from advocacy on current issues, to hands-on cleanups, to entertainment like the immensely popular Concerts on the Green. Download a PDF that explains what we do and why you should be part of it.
PBTC is very involved with current issues that affect our community. We work closely with the San Diego City Council and the San Diego Police Department and other county, state and federal agencies to ensure we receive current information and that our members’ views are heard. The Pacific Beach Town Council takes an active role in promoting and sponsoring special events that are planned, arranged and executed by PBTC members and directors. We also collaborate with other Pacific Beach organizations to promote our beachside community and businesses.
Pacific Beach Town Council Mission Statement
The purposes of this organization are to provide a forum for the discussion of community issues; to communicate the views of the community to the appropriate governmental agencies; and to take action on community issues, specifically, but not limited to: the general betterment and beautification of the community of Pacific Beach; the promotion of the welfare of the residents of the community; the fostering of the cooperative efforts among the business people and residents of the community for the mutual benefit; and the continued improvement of Mission Bay Park.
Monthly Community Meetings
We hold a monthly meeting at 6:30 pm on the third Wednesday of each month (except December). Currently meetings are held in a hybrid format, using technology to combine both a virtual zoom meeting with an in-person gathering. These general membership meetings are open to the public and feature guest speakers on relevant topics. Many times these meetings become community forums that require a vote of the membership on current issues facing our community. Our positions are received and respected by elected officials, their representatives or other government staff who attend our meetings. More about our community meetings.
