The PB Business District has implemented a Clean & Safe program covering areas of Pacific Beach including the boardwalk near Crystal Pier, Garnet to Ingraham, and parts of Felspar and Hornblend.
The Clean & Safe program is made up of a Maintenance Team and Safety Ambassadors.
The Safety Ambassadors, who work for a reputable security company, serve to complement the San Diego Police Department. They help visitors with information and provide social outreach referrals for homeless. A program of this kind is also being used in downtown San Diego.
The non-profit Pacific Beach Street Guardians will be maintaining the streets, sidewalks and alleys in the business district. The Street Guardians are made up of homeless men and women who have been thoroughly screened, and want to work to better their situation.
The Clean & Safe Program cannot exist without the help of our community. To support this effort, you may purchase a police appreciation yard sign for $10. The signs can be purchased at the Pacific Beach Town Council Office during business hours.
If you can’t make it to the PBTC office when it’s open, you can call or email the office. Leave your name and the best way to reach you, and a volunteer will make arrangements to bring a sign to you and collect the donation.
